Mr Bradley will take up his position on 24 October 2005. He replaces Judith Hill, CBE, who took up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Ireland Hospice in March 2005.
Martin Bradley has been Director of the Royal College of Nursing, Northern Ireland, since 2003. His background is in general and psychiatric nursing and nurse education, and he has held a series of Senior Management and Director of Nurse Education posts in the Health and Personal Social Services.
He is Vice Chairman of the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health, and a mentor with the King’s Fund Nurse Leadership Programme. He is a past member of the UK Central Council for Nurses and Midwives, and a former member of the BBC Broadcasting Council.
He has a particular interest in community development, targeting health and social need, primary care and practice development and is a visiting Professor of Nursing at the University of Ulster.
In October 2000 he was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing.
He is married with two teenage children.
