Dr. Deirdre Cronin, a molecular biologist from the Republic of Ireland, began her fellowship at the NCI in the summer of 2003. Before traveling to the U.S., she participated in a course in cancer epidemiology and had a four-month assignment at the National Cancer Registry of Ireland (NCRI) in Cork. Since her return to the NCRI, she has been pursuing a program of research in collaboration with a number of researchers at NCI, including Dr. Linda Harlan, in the area of patterns of care, as well as a number of case-control studies. Dr. Cronin has been involved in analysis of data from the FINBAR study of oesophageal adenocarcinoma and in developing proposals for studies in HPV/Cervical carcinoma and in pancreatic cancers.
